About drunk drivers,... this is tradition from last 20 Years... :)
Sorry for first comment I write Holiday as Holyday...
I would say that there is much more at the background of this holiday: people who work hard in vineyards throughout the year and are afraid that bad weather can destroy their harvest could tell us a lot about that. When all the hard work is over and the product is safe in the barrels the ones who produced the wine have the right to celebrate. People who drink too much do not respect good wine nor the wine growers. Not to speak about civilized behaviour!

I can tell you much abut bad weather which can destroy all hard work, which we put in it, 'couse we have a vineyard to...and it can happen that weather destroy everythink.
